Due to extremely high temps, consumers across the region can expect higher than normal electric bills. As shown in this graphic, electric usage for cooling is in direct correlation with higher temperatures. In a random sample of WFEC members, energy usage was 19% higher in Aug. 2014 than Aug. 2013 - an average increase of $64. If members kept their thermostats on the recommended setting of 78 degrees, their cooling system ran the majority of the month in an effort to maintain comfort levels. As a member-owned co-op, we understand the hardship that higher than normal bills can have on members. WFEC has Energy Services Representatives ready to assist you with making your home as efficient as possible.
