GRACEVILLE – West Florida Electric Cooperative (WFEC) held its 71st Annual Meeting/Member Appreciation Day on Saturday, April 19 in Graceville. The event took place at the Graceville Civic Center from 8:30 a.m. until Noon. Some of the activities taking place throughout the day included displays and children’s events. Musical entertainment was provided by The River Town Girls from Calhoun County. Member-owners were also able to register for door prizes, participate in health screenings, enjoy a great meal and learn the results of the trustee elections while visiting with friends and neighbors. Member-owners had the opportunity to win a variety of prizes such as electric grills, small appliances, electronics and more. WFEC also awarded member-owner, Charles Dykes, of Sneads, Florida a 3 kW portable generator. Only member-owners who returned the registration cards from their election packets by the deadline were eligible to win the generator. However, every member who attended the meeting received complimentary gifts upon registration. A representative from McDaniel & Associates, the certified public accounting firm that collects and tabulates WFEC’s mail ballots, announced the results of the District 5 trustee election at the end of the meeting. Incumbent A.C. Miles received 3,498 votes while Candidate James Garret received 1,322 votes. Complimentary sandwiches were served for lunch by Southern Country Barbeque and drinks were provided throughout the day by cheerleaders from Vernon High School.
