Residential Deposits

Residential Deposits

WFEC currently charges a deposit of $250. This deposit is retained for 24 months of on time payments. When a member pays for 24 months with no more than two late payments, the deposit is credited to their monthly bill.

If you move before the 2-year term, and are no longer within WFEC's service area, your electric deposit will be refunded against your final bill and the remainder will be sent to you. Second accounts in the member's name may have the deposit waived if a good credit record has been established and maintained for a period of 24 months.

Commercial Deposits

Businesses are considered on an individual basis when establishing deposit amounts. Business deposits shall be based on an estimated three month's bill. If there is no history permitting this estimate, and no similar business to base a usage estimate on, a $500.00 flat deposit may be charged.

Membership Fee

There is a $5 membership fee for new member-owners - a one-time charge. It covers the basic administrative costs of setting up an account and the membership privileges of receiving electric service. If a member re-locates and leaves our system, this $5 fee is credited back to the account on the final bill.

Connection Fee

There is a $35 connect fee - a one-time charge to cover WFEC's outside costs of having a service technician read a member's home or business meter and check its meter connections in order to safely receive electric service.

Basic Monthly Service Charge

WFEC charges a $19.90 basic monthly service charge that helps cover costs to serve you (i.e. providing office locations, providing customer service representatives; reading meters; processing and issuing bills; processing payments; providing 24-hour service for outage restoration).

All utilities charge a basic monthly service charge for administrative functions. When you connect or disconnect service and are not at your location a full month, this amount is pro-rated, based upon days of service, on your bill.

Returned Check Fee

WFEC charges a returned check charge of $35. If your account ever shows the receipt of two returned checks within a 12-month period of time, WFEC will not accept checks as payment for the account for a period of 24 months (Cash or Credit Card only).

Taxes

Other costs you may find on your bill include the following taxes: Florida Sales Tax, City/County Sales Taxes, franchise tax and gross receipt taxes.

Disconnects at Meter for Non-Payments

If a member's account is disconnected for non-payment and the member calls during regular business hours (Mon. - Fri. 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) to have service restored, the account will be charged for all usage on the meter through the disconnect date, applicable deposit upgrades and service charges. If the request to reconnect service is made after hours, the trip fee to reconnect service will be $75.

Service Connections/Disconnections at Utility Pole

To connect or disconnect service at the pole, there is no charge for maintenance reasons.

Additional Trips to Connect Service

For the safety of member-owners, WFEC does not connect electric service until a home or building receives a "clearance" from a county building inspector and it meets WFEC's codes.

Miscellaneous

Diversion of current carries an investigation fee of $150. WFEC makes every attempt to estimate the amount of current diverted. In the second case of diversion by the same member, a flat $1,000 fee is incurred.

Meter Accuracy Test (during hours at member's request): $35

Service call to consumer's premises when problem is determined to be consumers instead of WFEC's: $35 (during hours); $75 (after hours).
