Residential Deposits Businesses are considered on an individual basis when establishing deposit amounts. Business deposits shall be based on an estimated three month's bill. If there is no history permitting this estimate, and no similar business to base a usage estimate on, a $500.00 flat deposit may be charged. There is a $5 membership fee for new member-owners - a one-time charge. It covers the basic administrative costs of setting up an account and the membership privileges of receiving electric service. If a member re-locates and leaves our system, this $5 fee is credited back to the account on the final bill. There is a $35 connect fee - a one-time charge to cover WFEC's outside costs of having a service technician read a member's home or business meter and check its meter connections in order to safely receive electric service. Basic Monthly Service Charge WFEC charges a returned check charge of $35. If your account ever shows the receipt of two returned checks within a 12-month period of time, WFEC will not accept checks as payment for the account for a period of 24 months (Cash or Credit Card only). Other costs you may find on your bill include the following taxes: Florida Sales Tax, City/County Sales Taxes, franchise tax and gross receipt taxes. Disconnects at Meter for Non-Payments If a member's account is disconnected for non-payment and the member calls during regular business hours (Mon. - Fri. 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.) to have service restored, the account will be charged for all usage on the meter through the disconnect date, applicable deposit upgrades and service charges. If the request to reconnect service is made after hours, the trip fee to reconnect service will be $75. Service Connections/Disconnections at Utility Pole To connect or disconnect service at the pole, there is no charge for maintenance reasons. Additional Trips to Connect Service For the safety of member-owners, WFEC does not connect electric service until a home or building receives a "clearance" from a county building inspector and it meets WFEC's codes. Diversion of current carries an investigation fee of $150. WFEC makes every attempt to estimate the amount of current diverted. In the second case of diversion by the same member, a flat $1,000 fee is incurred.
