Customers with Special Medical Needs
|
If you or another family member depends on life support, and the loss of electricity affects these life support systems, please alert WFEC prior to an outage occurring. You can do this by having your physician completing a medically essential service form. WFEC will then red-flag your address in our system. No utility can guarantee that your electric service will not be interrupted. This simply allows us to know of the medical need at your location. WFEC will only begin giving critical care members priority when line personnel begin restoring power at the tap-line and individual home level of our restoration process. We will make every effort to fix your problem as quickly as possible, but if there is damage up the line from your location, it must be repaired first before power can be distributed to your home. Caregivers of in-home critical care patients should always have an evacuation plan or a plan for how to handle extended outages in the event of a natural disaster or severe storm. WFEC cannot guarantee uninterrupted power to any home or business. Consumers with critical care needs are strongly encouraged to have backup plans to move to locations with power in an emergency.
