GRACEVILLE – West Florida Electric Cooperative (WFEC) would like to thank our members for their patience during cleanup efforts following the first wave of Tropical Storm Lee. The WFEC system experienced widespread damage throughout its service area including the loss of transmission feeds to the Bascom and Malone areas.

Crews have worked non-stop through the storm to repair damages caused by high winds and numerous downed trees and power lines. As of 6:00 p.m. electric service to most members in Jackson, Calhoun and eastern Washington County has been restored.

The most widespread and extensive damage occurred in Holmes County and the western portion of Washington County. The majority of outages remaining at this time are individual outages and will take longer than normal to restore.

WFEC would like to advise its members that all available crews will be working throughout the night to restore services. We estimate that all power restorations will not be completed until morning. Please remain patient with restoration efforts. If your outage is not repaired by 6:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, please contact the cooperative at (800) 342-7400. Members with medical needs should take the appropriate measures to ensure their safety during these prolonged outages.
